Finishes Friday #3

I haven't been posting as much as usual as I have been going through some life changes and been very busy.  I have been stitching away however and have a finish to share this week.  This is a small finish that I worked on whilst away on a work course for the last two weeks.  This is called Make Something and is a freebie from hugsarefun.com.  I stitched this on Polstitches fabric from a grab bag I bought ages ago and regular DMC threads ...

Finishes Friday #2

I've had quite a productive week (as seen by my last post) and have had a finish. I always keep a little mini in my handbag to pull out and work on. This was in the back of an issue of New Stitches Magazine ...

WIPPING It Wednesday #1

So I've decided to share WIP progress every Wednesday.

Cross Stitch

This week I've been working on page two of HAED Autumn Owl Trio, it's not that exciting yet I've just added another 800 stitches of 722 !!!!!

I've also been working on some secret stitching which I can't share on here but if you follow me on Instagram (@stitchydondesigns), you can see my progress there. I also have a small finish that I'll share on Friday.

Alternative Craft

Every week this year I'm trying to work on a craft that is either new or rare to me. After the rug I did for Christmas I decided to pull out an old latch hook kit. I bought this one about eight years ago when an old Hobbycraft went out of business (we have a new one now). Everything was being sold at half price and I had always wanted to try latch hook so I picked up a kit. The only problem was by the time I decided to get one all the good kits were gone so I got one with flip flops on. It's a small kit but I made good progress on it ...

Quilting

As part of my 2015 stitching aims I wanted to work on my Sew and Stitch magazine quilt again (Here is a linkto the beginning of the project). I've completed another part this week ...

This square was really easy and just involved hand stitched appliqué and a little kantha embroidery which was just made up of a line of running stitches echoing the shape of the starfish.

Finishes Friday #1

One of my aims for this year was to blog more and to help with this I am going to have more structure on my blog.  Every Friday I am going to post about any finishes I have.  Because it is only January the 2nd and I don't have any finished yet, for my first post I thought I would post the projects I finished as gifts for Christmas.  I made two gifts for Christmas.  The first was a latch hook rug.  This was the first time I had ever tried latch hook and I enjoyed it.  I wouldn't want to do it all the time as it is a little monotonous but I loved the effect ...

The next finish I have is my first ever larger knitting project.  I made a cardigan for my mother, I got the pattern from Ravelry.  It is called Driven by Veera Valimaki.  I found it a really positive experience, it's not perfect but I learnt so much from the experience and my mum loved it.  It fitted really well ...

I apologise for the photo quality so here is a picture of the cardigan on the model ...

I would really recommend this pattern, the yoke was a little confusing but the rest of the pattern was really well written and any trouble I had was fixed by going on the designers group on Ravelry as she had everything written clearly on there.

2015 Aims and a Happy New Year !!!

I managed to squeeze in another quick finish in 2014. This was a quick small that I finished ...

So in relation to my last post about how I want to stitch this year I have made my aims for 2015 more concrete:

1. Go through my rotation 3 times
2. Knit at least 2hrs a week to continue building my skills
3. Continue working on my Sew and Stitch Quilt hopefully completing 20 parts
4. Complete small latch hook kit I have had for almost a decade !!!
5. Blog more often (try for 1or2 times a week
6. Be more active in forums and on others blogs (I am really bad at this)

To achieve this I will make aims each month and keep on top of them but I'll write about January aims in my next post !!!

Happy 2015 !!!
