Sew and Stitch Magazine Square #1

When I was young I was always fascinated by the partwork magazines that were always on the tv. No matter how much my parents would tell me it was cheaper to buy a book I always wanted to subscribe to one. I always told myself when I was older and earning money I would subscribe to one of them. In September last year a new one started to be advertised in the U.K. entitled 'Sew and Stitch'. I couldn't wait and signed up right away. Each week you get the materials and instructions to make a nautical themed quilt along with a magazine. There were also some cool subscription presents. I started subscribing in September and have been collecting up the magazines ( I have just received issue 28).

I want to share my progress each week as I take the plunge and do my first square. I thought it would be good to do a little review each week too just in case anyone else was wondering about the value of these partwork type subscriptions.

Part one was a postcard square. The instructions were clearly written and I had lots of materials given so I didn't struggle there. The stitches used were a pretty basic backstitch and straight stitch which look really effective. I really like the beach fabric and it's pretty good quality ( I was expecting thin, inexpensive fabric but it's a good thickness ). I really enjoyed stitching this one and am looking forward to next weeks session on square two ...

Happy Stitching Everybody !!!
