Stitch From Stash January Edition !!!

I am taking part in Stitch from Stash 2014 hosted by Mel from Epic Stitching.  The main gist is to stick to a budget of the equivalent of $25 USD each month for stitching stash in 2014.  This is great for me as I am a hopeless spender and I am really hoping to stick to this.  Its not like I need any stash as I have plenty for many lifetimes but I am a stitchaholic and I can't resist.  We are allowed to carry any remaining monies over and things like magazine subscriptions that we already have (I have two ongoing ones) are not included.  We are also allowed one cheat month but I haven't used that yet !!!

This month I started the month with taking part in Crazy January Challenge 2014.  My projects were either new starts from stash or continuations of current WIP's.  Once I completed that I took one of my WIP's (Trick or Treat) and worked on that for the rest of the month.  I also have a secret project that I am working on.  I will be revealing this later in the year but I can't yet.

My spending this month was as follows:

Secret Project:  £10.75
Crafty Kitten Thread of the Months:  £1.90
Total Spent:  £12.65 approximately $21 USD
Total Remaining:  £2.35 approximately $4 USD

Here's a piccy of some of my purchases, the gorgeous threads from The Crafty Kitten ...

I've used google to calculate the currency exchange, so any mistakes are theirs hahaha !!!

Crazy January Challenge: Day Fifteen

Day fifteen is a restart of my dolphin design.  When I pulled it out to work on I didn't really  like how it was turning out.  There was just too much show through.  So I decided to restart it on some 25 count hand dyed fabric I had in my stash.  The fabric is lovely to stitch on and the design will look sooo much better on a smaller count.  Since deciding it took a while I only got three stitches in it.  The were just token stitches to say I had started it on Jan 15th.  I want to make this my focus project for the year and complete it in 2014.  This won't be difficult as the pages are small and have large blocks of colour.  The whole design is the equivalent of five HAED pages and by restarting I have only lost the equivalent of one.  I do need some threads for it but that will have to wait as I have spent my quota of stitching budget from this months stitch from stash !!!!!

Crazy January Challenge: The Penultimate Post !!!!

For day fourteen I made a start on Thomas, an Elegance by John Clayton design from Heritage Crafts.  I love these designs and want to have stitched them all someday.  I have already done a few and have two more kitted up in my stash.  This is the first of the two males I have completed.  A lot of white on white stitching today ...

Crazy January Challenge: Day Twelve

This time it's an actual new start !!!!  I had this design downloaded from The Sew Discounted website when they used to have a free design of the month.  This one is for November, at the moment it just looks like a blob but it will transform into fireworks when completed ...

Crazy January Challenge: Day Eleven

Well today is a bit of a cheat as I dug out Kingfisher to work on which is a leftover from last years CJC.  I haven't touched it since then but really do want to progress on it this year.  I was so tired after work yesterday that I didn't manage much but the orange stitches on its chest feathers ...

Crazy January Challenge: Day Ten

More fractalling today.  This time I started the third page of bookmark number 268.  Again quite an easy stitch but this was a work day so I only managed one hundred and fifty stitches before sleep took over !!!!!

Crazy January Challenge: Day Nine

Another day, another fractal.  This time I worked on page two of Fractal Bookmark 322.  I love this design, it's not as confettilicious as the other ones I am working on but the pattern is really fab.  I managed approx.  two hundred stitches on this ...

Crazy January Challenge: Day Eight !

For day eight I started the fourth page of Fractal Bookmark 292.  I only have to complete the page for the challenge and it shouldn't take too long as I only have partial pages left now on the whole design. I managed approx.  200 stitches on this but it's hard to see in the photo ...

Crazy January Challenge: Day Seven

For day seven I started the second page of HAED freebie Trick or Treat by Randall Spangler.  I did the first page last year and love this design sooo much.  By HAED standards it is a comparatively easy stitch so far as the blue night sky is only made up of about three colours.  The confetti doesn't hit till the bottom of the project and by then I'll be close to finishing so I won't mind !!!!!

Crazy January Challenge: Day Six, No Introductions Necessary !!

It's the return of the dreaded linen butterflies hahaha. Actually tonight's session on them wasn't too bad and I managed to complete a whole butterfly. Just five butterflies left and a small corner of border and then I am done, which is the aim for the year !!

Crazy January Challenge: Day Five, the Return of an Old Friend !!!

Guess who's back !!! Day five saw the return of HAED 2013 SAL freebie Literate Dragon. Followers from last will know the disaster I had with this piece that required me to restart it. I managed two hundred stitches yesterday but it's looking better than last time already. I must be getting use to smaller counts of fabric because I think my stitches are much neater ...

Crazy January Challenge: Day Four and Happy Bloggiversay to Me !!!!

It's my third year bloggiversay today, I can't believe I've stuck at it for this long !!! Thank you to everyone who follows me, I really appreciate each and everyone of you. It's true that some projects (especially the linen butterfly one) just wouldn't have been completed without your support, thank you !!!!
I will do a small giveaway towards the end of January, once work settles down a bit. I work in retail and as you can imagine its a little nutty working at the moment !!!

For my fourth project I am working on a Cross Stitcher magazine freebie from their website that I got years ago (my excuse for having no link !!). It's a simple picture of a Xmas pudding (my last Xmas CJC project), despite another full day in work I did get a fair bit done ...

The fabric is red but it's dark and the photo was taken on my phone, however you get the idea.

Crazy January Challenge: Day Two !!

For day two I am stitching the matching kit for yesterday's dog. It's the exact same DMC mini kit but with a Christmas cat. I worked full time today so not much stitching but it was relaxing to stitching a nice block of black thread after the complicated projects I was working on at the end of last year !!!

Crazy January Challenge 2014: Day One

Day one's project is a small kit I received Xmas 2012 from my sister. It is a DMC mini kit of a cartoon Christmas Dog. I am working the first few days of the challenge so have picked small kits to start with. It stitches up really quick as this is only two hours worth of stitching whilst watching the new episode of Sherlock on TV tonight. The kit is quite well put together for a mini kit, so far both threads and fabric have been generous. I also have a matching cat kit that will be my project for day two ...
