My 2015 Stitchy Aims !!!!

I have been thinking and thinking about my aims for next year.  My sewing aims for this year went out the window, even though I did have quite a successful year with 20 small finishes and completing five pages of my dolphin project.  I think what's stalling me at the minute is that I have just more WIPS than I am comfortable with.  I have approx. 14 larger WIPS at the moment and I just feel like that is a little overwhelming and I didn't touch any of them last year.  So what I've decided to do is to have no aims as such but to just take five projects and focus on them for the year.  I am going to go back to a rotation and work a page each on the five projects before going back to the beginning.  When I complete a project I will replace it with a project from my WIP pile.  I am hoping I will be able to make a real dent in my larger projects then this year.  I will supplement this with continuing to work on smaller projects when my brain is too frazzled to work on anything more complicated !!!!!  I will write another page so that you can look at my projects and their progress.  This is my proposed rotation:

1.  HAED Autumn Owl Trio (I am currently on page 2/20)

2.  Dolphins (I am currently on page 6/15)

3.  Linen Butterflies (I am currently stitching section 3/3)

4.  Heritage Stitchcraft, John Clayton Elegance Collection, Thomas (I am currently stitching section 1/3)

5.  Fractal Bookmark 268 (I am currently stitching page 3/6)

That should keep me busy !!!!!

Arbre D'Ete

I've made a start on the third tree in my Jardin Prive series.  This is the summer one and consequently is the brightest.  I love the little red apples and the blue bird !!!! Not really the season for it but I want to get them all finished by the end of the year.

Latest Progress !!!

I've finally finished all that orange on Autumn Owl Trio, the next page still has a lot of orange but the bottom of the page has the beginning of the first owl so I'm excited ...

I have also made some progress on soluble butterfly ...

I have been spending a lot of time thinking about my stitching next ear and will write about it in my next post. I had a little ebay bargain this week. I bought four old issues of Crosstitcher magazine including the first ever one for £1.50 !!!!! I have enjoyed looking through them and seeing the differences !!!

A Finish, Some Progress and more Nancy Giveaways !!!

I've finished another little Hobbycraft kit that I keep in my handbag to pull out and work on whenever I can. I LOVE meerkats so I had to have this one when I saw it !!!!

I am making slow progress on my soluble butterfly project. I am liking learning something new by using the soluble material but the project isn't that enjoyable to stitch. I am finding it difficult to get the threads in the same holes as the fabric underneath is quite thick but I don't want gaps !!! It is nice to stitch with the bright colours and I am in no rush to finish this one I just work on it when I feel like it ...

I am also halfway through the first page of HAED Autumn Owl Trio. The first page is only dmc 722 ( I've already gone through one whole skein !!!!!) but I still love it. Instead of working left to right like I normally do I am going to work the pages top to bottom so that I get some variety in the stitching ...

An Itty Bitty Finish !!!

I've finished Itty Bitty Pumpkin, the day after Halloween !!!! It was a quick stitch and I have got much quicker at stitching over one.

I have also made a new start, HAED Autumn Owl Trio, the first page is 7890 stitches of dmc 722 !!!! Perfect mindless sewing !! I am stitching on hand dyed fabric by Jodyri Designs. The fabric is 25 count and is called Turning Leaves. This is my first time ordering from her and I'm really impressed, the fabric is lovely.

I have also been doing some knitting. I have always been able to basic knit but this is my first time doing any sort of pattern and it turned out quite well if I say so myself. Instead of using stuffing I finally used up some of my orts that I have been collecting for a couple of years ...

Halloween Stitching !!!

This year's Halloween stitching is Itty Bitty Pumpkin by Twisted Threads. It is stitched on wichelt 32 count linen in the Tumbleweed colourway. I am stitching over one with one strand of the recommended anchor threads. It's very tiny stitches so stitching is going a little slower but it is only a small design ...

A Sleepy Finish !!!

I've finished my Sleepy Owl project. I've loved stitching this. I started when going through a rough time in work and it was the perfect project to work on, big blocks of colour and an easy pattern to follow. I just love owls !!! This pattern was from Etsy, the designer was threadsandthings1. I stitched it on the usual, Crafty Kitten hand dyed fabric using the recommended DMC threads ...

A Productive Week !!!!!!

Wow, this week has been exhausting!  I have worked some long, hard hours in work but I have still been able to make a lot of progress.  Mostly because all I have done is work, stitch for an hour and sleep !!!  First off I finished a little quickie I bought the other day to work on when I was visiting my sister.  This is called Sheep with Red Scarf (inspiring name right ?!?!?).  This was a small from my local Hobbycraft that is next door to where I work.  The little design was cute but I didn't have enough thread to finish (a recurrent theme this year in my stitching) so I bought a second one to complete it ...

The next finish I had was Arbre Automne, a freebie from the Jardin Prive website.  I cannot describe how much I enjoyed stitching this design.  I just loved everything about it, from the colours to the cute squirrel !!! I think it went nicely with my choice of fabric to and I intend to stitch the other three seasons to match.  I was so excited the photo was taken straight off the hoop, sorry ...

I also have finished the cross stitching on my owl project but you only get a partial pic of that because next time will be a completion.

New Chrimbo Finish !!!

My Christmas Dog design I finished a while ago now has a companion. I finished the other DMC mini kit I had this week. This one is Christmas Cat. I enjoyed these couple of kits and they have turned out quite cute. The patterns were written well without mistakes and the fabric was large enough for the design. However the amount of thread wasn't quite enough for the design, and I had to purchase more, luckily I wasn't affected by dye lots. Here he is ...

More Smalls Progress !!!!

After I finished Christmas Dog, I pulled out the companion piece, Christmas Cat. He is another cutie !!!

Here is some more progress on my owl. I've done the beak and started backstitching so I don't need to do it all at the end.

A Christmas Doggy !!!

I've finished another !!! This time it is DMC Mini Kit Christmas Dog. A really quick stitch. The chart was really clear, and there was plenty of material but the amount of thread was a bit tight come the end. It's a real cutie ...

I'm On A Roll !!!

What's that ? Another finish you say !!! Why yes I do have another one to share haha !!! I have finished another small christmas kit I started for my Crazy January 2014 Challenge. Since I won't get any of my other goals finished this year for the challenge I may as well complete all the Smalls !!!!

This kit was Golden Tree by Anchor and as per the instructions is completely sewn in backstitch. It took no time at all to stitch up and the metallic thread was no bother at all ...

I have also been making some progress on my owl. He now has some eyes !!!

Lots of Smalls !!!

Now I finished Christmas Pudding I want to keep some Smalls in my rotation to pick up in the evenings when I've had a long day at work and can't focus on my owl project. I took the last three Smalls from my Crazy January Challenge and added a kit from an old issue of Cross stitcher to my stitching tin. What I am doing is spending an hour a day roughly on them rotating them on a daily basis.

The kit is a butterfly stitching on soluble canvas to a piece of Wedgwood blue fabric. I have never used soluble canvas before. It's a strange one, I quite like how it is turning out but I don't think my ocd can handle how the stitches aren't always regular haha !!!! It is supposed to be made up into a coin purse which I probably won't do but I am enjoying doing something different !!!!

A Chrimbo Finish !!!!

I have my first finish in what feels like ages !!! This is a pattern I have had in my stash for years and started for my Crazy January Challenge this year. It was a quick nice colourful stitch. I think if I was to stitch it again I might not have used red fabric as it was pretty close to the red used in the pattern. I didn't have much trouble with the DMC metallics either ...

Christmas in September !!

It's early but I wanted something to work on whilst working on my owl and a secret project I can show in a couple of days. I picked out one of my projects from CJC 2013, a simple cute but sparkly christmas pattern. It's a really old freebie from Crosstitcher website that I can't find online now. I'm very close to a finish. That's one of the reasons that I picked it up: I really need a finish I think to pick up my stitching mojo !!!

Here's where I left it last time I worked on it ...

And here it is now ...

I am enjoying thus, even if it contains the dreaded dmc metallics !!!

Long Time No Blog !!!

No excuses, I've been in a real funk. My new promotion has not been working out very well and I have been feeling really rough lately. My cross stitch has been the thing to suffer the most, I didn't touch a needle from my last post till this week.

In order to get me out of my stitching doldrums I decided to pick out a new start. I still wanted to stay within the parameters of stitch from stash (which I have still been participating in). Therefore rather than just buying a kit I decided to download a pattern from etsy and use fabric and threads from stash. I chose this owl pattern designed by threadsandthings1. It's a nice simple but cute pattern which is a perfect project for what I need at the moment. I chose some nice Crafty Kitten hand dyed fabric from my vast stash and picked out the dmc threads I needed. It's going ok so far, I'm just doing a little 1/2 hr each day in the hopes I will get into it and want to do more. I am also going to blog more frequently as I think that may enhance my motivation. Anyway enough blathering, you want pictures ...

A Legendary Finish !!!

I finished Legendary !!! It has turned out much better than I imagined. This is a design I created myself to celebrate the end of one of my favourite shows, How I Met Your Mother. I stitched it on Crafty Kitten Fabric (seemingly my goto hand dyed of choice !!!) using Dinky Dyes Silk number 44. This was my first time using Dinky Dyes silk and it won't be my last, although pricey it was worth it. The quality was excellent, the thread was so soft and the dye quality was perfect. So without further ado ...

Been steadily stitching away on the border for Legendary, I am using Dinky Dye thread for the first time and they are beautiful. So silky and it glides through the fabric. Next update on this should be a finish, yiphee !!!

A Finish and More Legendary !!!

It's been a while but work has gotten very busy at the moment. After all the stress of the last few weeks I have actually had some good news. I am being promoted, which is fantastic but will mean less stitching time. However I will be getting more money which means more stitchy spending haha !!!

In terms of my stitching I have a finish. I finished Woodland Sampler that I showed in my last update. It has some lovely charms on it. However, these were a pain to get. The magazine was quite new but the charms weren't available in lots of shops. I did manage to get them in the end. The pattern was extremely easy to follow and there were no corrections to be made. It was my first design completely stitched in anchor threads. I didn't see any great difference between them and my normal DMC, although I did think they were a bit shinier ...

I've also done some more work on legendary and have finished the lettering. All it needs now is a border ...

Some Actual Cross Stitching !!!

Everyone's been really nice about my sew and stitch project but I think it's long overdue that I update on my current cross stitch WIPs !!! After all cross stitch is my main hobby !!!

I won't make my dolphin aims for the month but I have two weeks off from work coming up so should be able to carry it over to next month.
I am about to finish page five which is the final page in the top row ...

I have also been working on a WIP that I started last year. This is a project from New Stitches magazine that I started in December last year. I put it too one side but when I ran out of threads the other day rather then buy new (how good am I haha) I pulled this one out to work on. It looks like I'm quite near a finish but it wasn't until I started the central motifs that I realised I had done the complete border in just two strands when the pattern called for three (if only I read the pattern before haha). Never mind, all the motifs are correct and I have been slowly frogging the border as you can see (I had completed the whole border before I realised). I love the Nordic feel of this design even if it does felt strange to be stitching winter scenes during springtime !!! This is being stitched on 14 count red aida with white anchor stranded cotton. Three threads over one.

There are some charms to go in the gaps. Last but not least is a little personal project. One of my favourite shows recently ended and as a fan I wanted to do something to commentate it so I took one of the famous sayings from the show and put it in cross stitch. I designed it myself using MacStitch. So here it is so far, I call it my Legendary project to celebrate How I Met Your Mother ending ...

Fans' know what the second half will say. It just needs the letters dary and a border and it will be complete. I am stitching it on 22count Oslo hand dyed by The Crafty Kitten and I am using Dinky Dyes Silk #44 Pacific Sunshine. I am stitching two over one.
