This design was not really on of my six Halloween Project lists but it is a finish, it is Halloweeny, so I haven't really cheated by going off list. It is the October part of the Oakhaven SAL. Once again this stitched up really quick and the colours were real Halloween colours. I am working on the second project on my list now. It is called Boo To You by Jacquelyn Fox. I will put a picture up in my next post.
Hope everyone in the US is coping ok with Hurricane Sandi. The pictures that are on the news look terrible.
Finished the first of my Halloween Projects, Cobweb by Elizabeth Almond. I put the details of the link in my last post. I loved this design, it was nice to stitch a Halloween design without it just being black and white or full of oranges !!!
I am a little late posting my IHSW update because I finished the weekend being sooo close to finishing the page I wanted to continue it. This is such a unique design and I LOVE stitching on it. It has a nice balance of confetti and blocks of colour, so just when you have had enough of the confetti a block comes along and vice versa. I am a little fed up of shades of grey colours so I can't wait for an injection of colour in my next projects ...
I have decided to take a break from my rotation for the rest of the year in order to stitch on some seasonal projects. The only exceptions will be the final page of Siberian Forest, and my SAL's. First up are my halloween projects for this year. I have six projects lined up for halloween this year and I intend to stitch these up next. The first project I will be working on is called Cobweb and is a freebie from the Elizabeth Almond Blackwork Journey website. This looks like a fun design and should stitch up quick, so not too long to wait till a finish.
It will be no surprise to know that I am late again with this. After all why break the habit I have done all year !!!!!!!!!!!! In the background you can see the certificate that I received for completing my dressmaking course earlier in the year.
After the brain frazzling adventure of Papillon Creations part five I decided to do something mindless and created a little felt cutie. I made a little gingerbread man out of some scrap felt I had. It only took a couple of hours and was the perfect tonic to restore my faculties !!!!!
After this I decided to give part six a go. I was so surprised, despite the cutwork, this really stitched up very quickly. It only took me a couple of sessions (I had already done the outline). I was so intimidated when I saw the Greek crosses but the instructions were really well written that it only took me a couple of practice squares on a scrap piece of fabric before I felt confident enough to give it a go for real. I still get so frightened when cutting the fabric, but I guess that is because it is only my second time of doing Hardanger and it may lessen with more experience.
I am now working on page two of Fractal Bookmark 292. This is only a partial page so shouldn't take too long to stitch up. Since it has been a while since I worked on this, here is a picture of where I left it last.
Happy Stitching Everybody,
P.S. it is time for this months IHSW this weekend, please click on the link in my sidebar for more info.
Papillon Creations part 5 is now finished !!!! It took a lot of work but it was worth it, it looks really good. I am going to take a small break before starting part 6 as I need something a little simpler to work on to let my brain rest !!!
I am going to spend the afternoon getting together some Halloween projects to work on, as I LOVE Halloween projects. I do have to complete the next page of Fractal Bookmark 292 first then I promised myself a couple of new starts !!
I have spent some time on my machine and made myself a new top from Prima Magazine, issue November from 2011. I think it came out ok, I got to use my new overlocker so the seams look quite good. Here is a piccy .....
And my threads have arrived so I can continue to work on the Papillon Creations, yippee !!!!!! Unfortunately I had to buy more threads than what I needed to make the order up to the free postage limit. Oh no !!!!!! Have a look at the pretties they are cheering me up because they are ice cream colours and the weather is so miserable ......
