I WON a Liebster Award!!!! and Oakhaven SAL Update

Thanks to Toni from Toni's Favourite Things who awarded me this award:

Liebster is a German word meaning favourite, dearest or beloved. The Liebster Blog Award is awarded by bloggers to other new bloggers who have fewer than 200 followers, to help spread the word about their blogs and to help them gain wider recognition.

The Liebster award comes with four conditions that each recipient must satisfy when accepting:

1. Choose 5 up-and-coming blogs with less than 200 followers to award the Liebster to.
2. Show your thanks to the blogger who gave you the award by linking back to them.
3. Post the award on your blog. List the bloggers you are giving the award to with links to their sites. Leave comments on their blog so they know about the award.
4. Share 5 random facts about yourself that people don't know about you

So here goes...

I have many blogs that I follow and enjoy, and the majority of them have had the award already, so I am trying not to double up.  I find everyone's blogs so inspiring that I don't want to offend anyone by not picking them so I thought I would chose blogs that haven't received the award.  I highly recommend looking at my blog roll and checking them out as I follow some really interesting and enjoyable blogs.

1.  Agi from The World According to Agi

Agi does some wonderful projects but she is also a talented designer.

2.  Lana from A Joyful Stitcher

Lana is working on a great wolf project

3.  Flossy from Flossy Bobbin

Flossy is another stitcher who also designs

I am just amazed at her projects!!!

5.  Claire from Cross Stitch Crazy Lady

I have only just started following this blog but I love the designs she is stitching!!!

And now for the facts about me!!!!!!

1.  Although I have mentioned it, my other hobby is running.  I really love how it makes me feel, especially the mental benefits.  I mostly run half marathons and one day wish to have the nerve to run a full marathon!!!

2.  I have a masters degree in English Literature.  My favourite author at the moment is Jasper FForde, I am making my way through the Thursday Next series of books.

3.  My favourite T.V. show at the moment is the American show Psych.  I absolutely LOVE this show, I think it is hilarious!!!! I can't get it on my T.V. so I have to wait for the D.V.D.'s to be released.  The U.K. is so far behind (I think the U.S. are on series six) as only the first four series are available on D.V.D. and I have to wait (impatiently) till May until series five is released.

4.  I have a really eclectic taste in music but my favourite band is Snow Patrol.

5.  I am also working on a quilt.  I started this fifteen years ago but have not worked on it constantly.  When I started this I had no real idea of how to do it but just a love of fabric.  It is very simple, just made up of squares of fabric.  I have recently pulled it out again as I really want to finish it this soon.  I do have to hand stitch it though because it is of a kingsize size.  What is off putting about doing it though is that I have a much deeper knowledge of how to piece together a quilt now and it frustrates me the mistakes and the quality of the sewing that I started with!!!

Now for some stitching!!!!!

I have finished the March part of the Oakhaven 2012 SAL which seems to be made up of Cats and Dogs!!! It looks really cute!!!

I am almost halfway through the first page of Fractal bookmark 292 and hope to have a finish on that one by the end of next week.  I also hope to update tomorrow or Friday with the next part of The Great Escape as I am just waiting on some beads to complete it.

Happy Stitching Everybody!!!

IHSW and Waterlilies Finish!!!

I am a bit late posting my progress but after a solid IHSW stitching on it I was so close to finishing waterlilies that I didn't want to put it down.  It really is a lovely piece, it doesn't have all the detail of a HAED but it still has a very realistic quality about it.  The nice bright colours make a change from all the brown of Siberian Forest but in saying that I was fed up stitching all the black in the last page!!!  Instead of taking a break from black like a more sensible person might the design that is replacing this one in my rotation also contains a lot of black.  I guess I am a glutton for punishment!!!!  I have chosen Fractal Bookmark 292 (Here is a link to the full version).  I am starting this one because I finished waterlilies faster than I thought so the next page of Siberian Forest hasn't been released yet.  However, I plan to stop the bookmark when the page is released because I do want to stitch it right away!!!

I am now off to stitch the March part of the Oakhaven SAL that I am taking part in.

Happy Stitching Everybody!!!!!

The Stitch Specialists Surprise!!!!!!

When I went to check my emails last night I had a really nice surprise.  Abi Gurden, designer of The Great Escape and creator of The Stitch Specialists Yahoo group, has picked my latest progress pic as the new homepage picture for the group.  I am really happy about this, although my family are really supportive about my stitching sometimes it is so nice to have the support of fellow stitchers and to have experienced stitchers say that your work is good as family 'have' to say they like your work!!!!!  This has filled me with confidence about my sewing so I just wanted to say thank you!!!!

I am going to update later with a progress pic of my waterlilies design.  I thought I would be finished with this page by now but life has got a little in the way!!  I am about halfway through however, so it shouldn't be too long before I am finished.  Normally when I finish a project in my rotation I make a new start but by the time I finish this one I think that the next page of HAED Siberian Forest QS will have been released and I want to make an immediate start on that one (I am very impatient!!!!!) as I was loathe to have had to stop when I did on it!!

Happy Stitching Everybody!!!!

The Great Escape and What I've been up to!!!!!

I have completed the next two parts of The Great Escape by Abi Gurden (to join in use this link).  It's really looking good.  I had no problems with these stitches and I LOVE how the mice have turned out, they really have a three dimensional quality to them:

Last week I had a lovely surprise.  My sister had ordered some buttons for me from the internet for a prezzie.  I was soo chuffed as I had no idea and they are sooooo cute!!!! I am really lucky to have a family that supports me with my sewing and also my other hobbies (as you will see later!!!).  Here they are:

I thought I would also share with you what I have done over the weekend.  As I have written in my bio, I also love running.  This weekend I travelled up to Bath, Somerset, England to take part in their yearly half marathon.  It was the second time that I have run this half and my sixth overall.  I did it in two hours dead and I thought I would share a photo of me afterwards with my medal!!!

The boards were from my supporters, my mum and sister came up to cheer me on!!!!

Happy Stitching Everybody!!!

P.S.  This weekend is International Hermit and Stitch Weekend.  If you are interested in finding out what this is all about just click on the logo in my sidebar.
