Year in Review and Plans for 2013 (WARNING Pic Heavy !!!

Well since the world didn't end on December 21st I guess I should make some plans for 2013.  I will start first with summing up my stitching for 2012.  I won't put all the details of each project here, (you can click on my 2012 finishes page for  more info),  I will just post the pictures:

So there are my personal finishes for the year, a total of twenty (I am also close to having two more before the end of the year), I am pretty pleased with that.  It is not as many as last year but I have been working on larger projects.  I also made progress on my WIPS, two pages of Fractal Bookmark 292, one page of Dolphins and one section of Linen Butterflies:

I also started two SAL's, one from Oakhaven Designs and one from Papillon Creations.  Here are my latest progress pics:

And finally I did these projects for other people:

Phew.... I did loads !!!!!!!!! And there is no stopping me for next year.  I have seen other people do this the last couple of years and I thought this would be the year I would join in.  I am going to do the Crazy January Challenge 2013.  I am really looking forward to it.  I have picked out all my projects and have them lined up, they are not all new as I am going to make a couple of the starts, page finishes of my current projects.  I have read everyones comments on their experiences on taking part and I still think it will suit me as I am someone who likes to have challenges and goals.  Here is my list:

1.  Fractal Bookmark 332 (page one finish)
2.  No Fishing (from Cross Stitcher Magazine)
3.  Hummingbird (from Teresa Wentzler)
4.  Fractal Bookmark 292 (page 3 finish)
5.  Victorian Dressmaker (from Cross Stitcher Magazine)
6.  Sweet Spring (from Oakhaven Designs)
7.  HAED Trick or Treat (page one finish)
8.  Keep Calm and Cross Stitch (from Cross Stitcher Magazine)
9.  AristoKat (Mouseloft kit)
10.  Heart of My Heart (from The Stitch Specialists)
11.  Funky Fox (free kit from Cross Stitcher Magazine)
12.  Cheeky Dolphin (Vintage kit from Charity shop)
13.  Dolphins (page four finish)
14.  Linen Butterflies (section two)
15.  HAED Literate Dragon
I will also continue to keep up with the Papillon SAL and finish off the Oakhaven SAL for 2012.  I can't wait for 2013 to start !!!

Happy Stitching Everyone !! Blog with you next year !!!

P.S.  I also want to increase my blogging this year, in 2011 I blogged 55 times, in 2012 68 times.  In 2013 I want to post at least 80 times !!!

It's My Birthday and I'll Post if I Want To !!!

So today I turn 32 and I am having a lovely day but I wanted to make a quick post about my present from my mother. I have always wanted an original Singer hand turning sewing machine just like my gran had when I was little (we don't know where her machine went). We have a local charity shop that I go in all the time to look at them as they sell a few of them. My mum said she would get me one for my birthday. The shop had sold out of them the last couple of trips I went to, so I was soooo pleased to have got it as it was one I saw about a month ago that I showed my mum (unknown to me she went in the next day to buy it). It is in immaculate condition, has an original hard case and instruction manual. It is probably from approx. 1930. You won't believe how much she paid ..... £25 ....... Amazing price !!!! I am soo happy I can't wait to have a play on it.

Siberian Forest is Finished !!!! And Final 2012 TUSAL

I've finished it !!!! Siberian Forest is finished. I have enjoyed stitching this design sooo much. I have LOVED seeing the tiger come to life especially the mesmerising eyes. He is really imposing and majestic. I can't wait for the next SAL to start ...

I also have a picture of my TUSAL jar for the last time this year, I was going to keep my jar full and use it for a decoration but I have changed my mind and am going to use it to stuff the Christmas decorations I am making ....

I have also worked on a small mouseloft kit in the last couple of days, any UK followers will know of the meerkat adverts that we have and I absolutely LOVE them, therefore when I saw this design I just had to stitch it. It combines my two favourite things, meerkats and Christmas ....

Secret Stitching Reveal and Siberian Forest Progress !!!

I can finally reveal what has been slowing up my sewing lately. Last Saturday I did my first craft fair !!!! I have been working really hard making up lots of products for my table. I was really worried how it would go so I didn't want to talk about it before. I was really pleased how it went I managed to make back the cost of the table and make a little more besides !!!!! The fair was at a nearby towns Christmas Light switch on so there was a lot of footfall. I still have some stuff left and I intend to put that stuff in my etsy shop in the New Year. Here are a couple of pictures of my stall plus me and one of my staff (both my mum and sister came to help me !!!!!!!!) ....

I have also made progress on Siberian Forest, I will not post anymore pictures of this until I finish because I am sooooo close ...

Almost halfway...

As my title suggests I have approximately finished half of the last page is Siberian Forest. I love stitching this one but there is a LOT of confetti in the middle of this page and it is going very slowly. Sometimes I am only doing a few stitches in an hour ...

Weekend progress on Siberian Forest

Made a nice little bit of progress on Siberian Forest this weekend. Probably stitched about 500 stitches this weekend so it is shaping up nicely. Still a little way to go though ...

Been working really hard in my secret stitching as well. I will be able to share it with you after this weekend. It's the reason I have being a very bad blogger at the moment as I have been getting some lovely comments from people recently and have had every intention of answering each one and commenting on others blog but just haven't had time. From Sunday however, I will have lots of personal sewing time again !!!!

Boo To You Finish

I finally finished it !!!! Boo To You is done. It was a really fun stitch. The only negative I will say is that the pattern had a lot if discrepancies in it that I had to work out along the way. For example parts of the letter O were pure orange so I had to use the picture and my brain (!!) to work out where the grey squares went. Never mind it looks nice and bright and although the sun was an endless sea of yellow 767 it does look striking x

IHSW November Progress

So I had intended to finish Boo To You this IHSW but I ran out of one thread to just finish the last letter of the BOO (argh !!!!!). Still it wasn't all bad as I made a start on the final page of Siberian Forest instead. I was hoping to finish this for the deadline of December 1st in order to enter the draw for a free chart but with my secret stitching I am doing I will not finish it on time but I am still going to make it my focus piece for the next couple of weeks as I will finish it around that date ...

Not too bad for a working weekend, I managed about 350 stitches. I was able to get the thread for Boo To You this morning so I should be able to update with a finish soon as I only have about two hours of work left to do on it.

Until next time, Happy Stitching Everybody !!!!!

P.S. I also have a twitter account, I am a newbie so just getting use to it but if you want to follow it my username is @stitchydon.

TUSAL and Slightly More Boo To You Progress !!

Here is November's TUSAL post (just a lickle bit late !!!!) ...

In the background you can see Boo To You has had a little more progress than my last update post. I should be able to finish it soon as I can't wait to work on Siberian Forest as the new HAED Sal has been announced and I am very excited. I don't know if anyone else is going to do it but I have chosen a design called Literate Dragon which is very apt for me because I have a masters degree in English literature !!!

Boo to You Progress

Not quite a finish but getting there. I have made a start on the letters. There is not much left to do so it shouldn't take long to complete ...

There is a reason I am being slower than I usually would on a project like this. I am working on a secret sewing related project that I don't want to share just yet !!! I am being so slow I will not be able to complete the other Halloween projects I wanted to this year as I want to dive straight into the final page of Siberian Forest in order to get it finished by the deadline (December 1st).

Don't forget IHSW this weekend, click on the link in my sidebar for more info.

Boo To You Progress !

I am making good progress with Boo To You Ghost.  It is a fun relaxing project to stitch on.  The only thing bugging me about it is the moon, it's not symmetrical and that vexes me a little !!!!! Other than that I am really enjoying it but it is taking longer than I expected to stitch it up...

I forgot I didn't put a link to where I got this freebie.  I got it from this website.
I have also added another project to my neverending todo list !!!  I fell in love with the new HAED Halloween freebie (here is a link to the HAED website)  and downloaded it immediately.  I did however make a compromise and deleted six charts on my computer that I decided I would never do because my taste has changed.  So one chart in and six charts out is not too bad.  I can't start it immediately because I need to save up for the threads but I would like to have it done it time for Halloween next year.

I have also completed another race.  I took part in the Plymouth 10k which is in my home town.  I took part in it last year as well and really enjoyed it both times.  Unfortunately I injured myself two months ago and hadn't been able to run for six weeks.  I was able to do a couple of small runs leading up and I really wanted to take part.  So no PB but really pleased I was able to run it at all.  Here is a piccy of me with my medal ...

Happy Stitching Everybody !!!
P.S.  I just spent an hour playing around with my blog design, I hope you like it.  I got the design from Blog Designs by Dani.  The template was free and her instructions were really easy to follow.

Second (sort of) Halloween Project

This design was not really on of my six Halloween Project lists but it is a finish, it is Halloweeny, so I haven't really cheated by going off list. It is the October part of the Oakhaven SAL. Once again this stitched up really quick and the colours were real Halloween colours. I am working on the second project on my list now. It is called Boo To You by Jacquelyn Fox. I will put a picture up in my next post.

Hope everyone in the US is coping ok with Hurricane Sandi. The pictures that are on the news look terrible.

First Halloween Project Completed !!!!

Finished the first of my Halloween Projects, Cobweb by Elizabeth Almond. I put the details of the link in my last post. I loved this design, it was nice to stitch a Halloween design without it just being black and white or full of oranges !!!

Fractal Bookmark Page 2 Finish (IHSW update)

I am a little late posting my IHSW update because I finished the weekend being sooo close to finishing the page I wanted to continue it.  This is such a unique design and I LOVE stitching on it.  It has a nice balance of confetti and blocks of colour, so just when you have had enough of the confetti a block comes along and vice versa.  I am a little fed up of shades of grey colours so I can't wait for an injection of colour in my next projects ...

I have decided to take a break from my rotation for the rest of the year in order to stitch on some seasonal projects.  The only exceptions will be the final page of Siberian Forest, and my SAL's.  First up are my halloween projects for this year.  I have six projects lined up for halloween this year and I intend to stitch these up next.  The first project I will be working on is called Cobweb and is a freebie from the Elizabeth Almond Blackwork Journey website.  This looks like a fun design and should stitch up quick, so not too long to wait till a finish.

Happy Stitching Everybody !!
